Expanding membership of the law enforcement memorial advisory committee to include a representative of the Kansas chapter of concerns of police survivors to be appointed by the governor.

Chairwoman Warren opened the hearing on HB2632

Jason Thompson gave an overview of the bill and stood for questions. (Attachment 17)

Dana Evans Kansas-Concerns of Police Survivors provided testimony in support of HB2632.  This bill will provide a direct voice to the committee from the unique perspective of the survivors of the fallen officers being honored on the memorial. (Attachment 18)

Ed Klumpp, Kansas Sheriffs Association; Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police; Kansas Peace Officers Association provided testimony in support of the bill.  The amendment adds one voting member to the Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Advisory Committee.  A representative of the KS-COPS as a voting member will be a vital addition.  (Attachment 19)

Written-only testimony in support of HB2632 was submitted by Col Erik Smith, Kansas Highway Patrol. (Attachment 20)

There being no further conferees, Chairwoman Warren closed the hearing on HB2632.
