Natalie Scott gave an overview of HB2595. The Committee had questions and comments.
Rocky Nichols testified on behalf of the Disability Rights Center of Kansas in support of HB2595 updating the Kansas statutes to remove outdated and offensive terms to describe people with disabilities (terms like insane, idiot, impairment of the mind, etc.). (Attachment 16)
Chairperson Jennings called for final questions from the Committee and then closed the hearing.
